The four main comics published by D.C. Thomson gave away similar cards over an eight week period. These cards are usually found cut, so you'll normally find the Famous Towns & Their Crests without the Famous Ship attached. They are much harder to find uncut.

This card came with Issue No. 17, 02 February, 1924 

These gatefold cards depict four contemporary footballers. The top picture shows the front and back and the second picture shows the two inside players. Normally found cut into singles, it is quite rare to find them complete.

The Rover comic cover Issue No. 1367,  8 September 1951. A series of cut-outs or was it just the cover for this issue? It would seem strange just to have one issue for a series of cut-outs, especially when they are unnumbered, to me it seems it was just a feature for the cover of this issue and not intended to be cut-out, unless other similar covers exist. But it does feature Cardiff City and that is all that matters.

Originally issued in small paper envelopes which are very rare, these were given away two per issue beginning with the very first issue of August 1922 and ending with issue 47 in January of the following year. From issue 28 cards were issued as ‘pair’ cards but these subsequently turn up cut into ‘singles’; complete pairs are not rare, but are distinctly harder to find. 

The cards were issued on these dates. * H.P. Evans was also issued in Scotland and that issue is much rarer than the English one.

A series of beautiful full-colour plates given free over a twelve week period. Sadly complete sheets are quite rare as these are almost always cut up and the individual players appear on eBay for about a fiver each. The backs were plain so there was absolutely no biographical information for each player.
