The cards were acquired by collecting tokens printed in the South Wales Echo. Although the players featured on the cards tie in with those from the tokens, the numbering of the tokens is completely different.

The four main comics published by D.C. Thomson gave away similar cards over an eight week period. These cards are usually found cut, so you'll normally find the Famous Towns & Their Crests without the Famous Ship attached. They are much harder to find uncut.
